Get your own lunchbox, fool!

First, I didn't run today because I spent the morning studying for my Latin test. To make up for my sedentary morning, I walked to and from class today and enjoyed the non-frigid and non-depressing weather. I dare not hope for spring yet because once I say something ostentatious like "Ooh, it's starting to be spring time!", Mother Nature is going to bitch-slap me in the face with -1034839204032 degree temperatures. (Yes, I know, that is below absolute zero.)

I also probably burned a lot of energy working at the running store today, mostly because I'm too short to reach the shoes on the top shelves. I ended up either dragging chairs/stools over to reach or jumping up and down pitifully until someone said, "Oh here! Let me get that."

...A guy came in towards the end of the day who laughed awkwardly at all my jokes. Props to you, dude.

And in exciting news:

It isn't a secret: I freakin' love my lunchbox, and I don't care that people think it's dorky. ("Um...do you have a separate container for each half of your sandwich, Mica?") It's a really great product, if only because it automatically controls portions and leaves you with plenty of cute things to munch. Eating from the cute boxes slows me down so I finish all full and happy. As an added bonus, I don't have any lunch waste to throw away (Ziploc baggies, foil, etc.), so I'm being environmentally- and tummy-conscious!

The nice people at Laptop Lunches are offering 10% off to readers who want to get their own lunchboxes. (Don't lie. You know you covet mine.) Just go to the Online Store and enter the discount code: micapie. [No punctuation necessary.] Tell your friends! Chalk your college campus! Wear a sandwich sign to work and get the word out there!

For the record, I have the Bento Bundle with the plastic containers, silverware, bento sleeve, and little book on how to pack lunch for children. The laptop-style case with a over-the-shoulder strap was a little much for me. (Plus over-the-shoulder straps don't work for post-puberty females. They cause weird uni-boobs.)

Whether you get one or not, here is a really great Flickr photo pool of people's lunches. I like to go through the photos and get ideas for my lunches.

Finally, guess what! The Illinois Marathon (and the Half, I assume) are in danger of being shut down because they can't find enough traffic volunteers. Oh, Midwest, you are such a running fail. If they cancel, I wonder if I'll get my money back...

I love your lunchbox :)

Oh... you gotta see my lunchbox. From Mon-Thu, only brown rice with sauteed vegetables (no meat at all, only cooked with garlic and onion).

I might consider running a different marathon if this happens, but I'm ready to go NOW. If my body has to endure another month of 20+ mile runs, I think my leg might fall off. Illinois FAIL.

That really stinks about the Illinois marathon, hope they find people.

Ok first off, love the lunchbox! Secondly, I just read your previous post and it's so refreshing to see a fellow runner eating some chicken wings! Some of the other fitness blogs makes me feel bad about not eating healthy 24/7...but I love me some bbq wings. :)

yay, im so getting a laptop lunchbox now!

that sucks about the marathon, surely you would get your money back...but it would still suck to be canceled after youve gotten all pumped for it!

I've just spent 30 minutes contemplating bento sets. No shame here, I definitely covet yours. That is cruddy about the marathon -- I always knew I wasn't a fan of the midwest for a reason (and yet I returned!). If you (and Jessica) don't mind training for another month, the Madison Marathon/Half is May 23. I'm sure there are others sooner in the area though.

Your lunch box is adorable!!

Has anyone tried to get the university involved? College kids would love to show up if they were promised a free tshirt or something. Although it would be an early Sunday...but what college kid doesn't like free tshirts?

They canceled some runs over here for the same reason. Its weird how the economy is effecting everything... even races :(

I do covet your lunch box! Hmm, do I deserve another reward after buying myself a mini computer this weekend?

I read about the half on Erin's blog. WTF? I hope some people volunteer :(
