1.01.2010

So this is the New Year.

Roommate Tina hosted a New Year's Eve bash at her swanky condo last night. It was good, low-key fun, as well as a great way to catch up with some of my closest high school friends. For most of us, 2010 marks a full decade of knowing each other, ever since our freshman classes together.

The evening provided me the perfect opportunity to really try out my awesome present from Dad and step-mom Pat: a Nikon D3000. Tiny liqueurs and peppermint cookies provided the first stable subjects:

I was envious of Roommate Tina's real, grown-up Christmas tree:

I made a tray of evil brownies. Sadly, three-quarters still remain, so please feel free to come over and eat them all:

I might not be culturally Asian, but that doesn't mean I can't pose for an "Asian Girl" photo with Dorothy, Steph, and Roommate Tina:

(This photo took a few tries, since our dear
photographer said we looked like we were squinting. Ha!)

I successfully figured out the "self-timer" function, with decent results:

Happy New Year! Toasts and noise-makers!

Unintentional self-portrait:

Happy ten-year anniversary, friends! This is the decade that we will become lawyers, filmmakers, graphic designers, analysts, screenwriters, engineers, doctors of medicine, and [gasp!] doctors of philosophy. Our interests and talents are diverse...

...but our common interests bring us together:

After some of the guests departed, Roommate Tina showed us her amazing Dyson vacuum:

While her boyfriend Ben did dishes with finesse:

After settling down to watch part of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the boyfriend and I walked home, a mostly full tray of evil brownies still in hand.

I am the only one up in the house. (Mom and Steve got home nearly an hour after we did.)

2010 will start with some banana bread I made yesterday.

Happy 2010, everyone! I hope you had a great kick-off to the New Year.

Also, I did nothing last night. Ate chocolates and drank some Smirnoff's with Matt...haha
