The plane food was pretty good, especially last night's dinner. Asiana, which is a Korean airline, served bibimbap, which is a mixture of rice, vegetables, and beef. (We also had the option of "beef" but who knows what that was...) It came on a cute little tray:

And for all the non-Koreans, it even came with a handy "How to" guide for maximum enjoyment:

The boyfriend was one of five Caucasian passengers on the plane. Fortunately, the flight attendants, with their plastered-on smiles, spoke English to him. They spoke Korean to me. This will certainly be an experience.
After layover and our second flight, we arrived dirty and tired at our hotel.

We're staying a Japanese-style room (i.e. no bed!). There are two futons with fluffy comforters that we roll out at night:

The floor is covered in tatami mats, so you have to wear special room slippers:

Though we tried to fight the jet lag, we accidentally slept until 11pm Tokyo time. In search of a late-night meal, we found a solidly average 24-hour restaurant. The employee inside did not speak English, and the menu was entirely in Japanese:

Fortunately, there were pictures. And the boyfriend speaks a tiny bit of Japanese. We managed to procure beef teriyaki (I think?), miso soup, and kimchi for a late dinner:

Now, we are on Tokyo/Seoul time which 14 hours ahead of our normal time zone (Central). (It is 13 hours ahead of EST.) Think of it this way, I am blogging from the future! Let me tell you, Tuesday is awesome.
Currently, we're watching Japanese TV (Who knows what is going on. It just showed a girl in a bikini prancing around in stiletto heels.) and hoping to fall asleep at a reasonable hour. Tomorrow, the adventure begins in earnest!

MISS YOU LOVE YOU!
God I miss Japan. Enjoy pointing at the food you want wherever you go!
Blogging from the future - LOVE IT! And so glad to see other restaurants besides Waffle House show pics of their food... although i feel yours did it for helping foreigners while Waffle House does so to help drunkards. Hmmm.
Glad you're having so much fun - can't wait to see more from Japan!! (the beds are so crazy cool!)
oooh fun!
Have a great time, eats lots of sushi.
YAY! You're there and safe. All of your photos look like my stash from 2004 when I was in Tokyo. How are the toilets at your place? We had to fight the hover/splash learning curve where we stayed. Also, I still have my slippers from my trip, a gift to me from the girls at the dorm!
Hope you're continuing to have a blast-- Monday morning wasn't the same without finding a mutually-acceptable time to run with my RB this week! :(
